Reliable, reproducible, immutable deployments

Abstract

It’s Friday evening: you have just finished writing a critical hotfix to be deployed ASAP, you are ready for a relaxing weekend. You start the deployment, and… it all goes sideways.

We’ve all been there, and the “no deployment on Fridays” is not a solution either. In this talk, we will look at different strategies to improve the reliability of software deployments, with concrete technologies that can be implemented by everyone at work.

We will look at:

• software dependency management
• continuous integration pipeline design
• build systems
• immutable/atomic deployments
• managing infrastructure changes
